What is The Zone Diet?
First of all, what exactly is The Zone Diet?
This is a whole healthy lifestyle approach to losing weight and maintaining a healthy and fit body. Created by its author Barry Sears, PhD, who is a former researcher in bio technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and co-author Bill Lawren, they maintain that living life "in The Zone" is the way to be and altogether what the whole idea of wellness is really all about.
In this respect, it is more than merely another weight loss plan. It's designed as a complete diet and exercise system that will enable anyone who follows it to not only lose weight but obtain a level of fitness that they may not previously have experienced.
The diet plan itself revolves around maintaining a healthy diet divided roughly into 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% fats. The health benefits include reducing the risk of heart disease, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and even diabetes along with a whole host of related conditions and illnesses.
In its most simple terms, The Zone Diet has been created as a means to maintain a "metabolic state in which the body works at peak efficiency," meaning that this state can only be successfully created by eating a diet that has set ratios of carbohydrates, protein and fats.
